Straw Serejo Tereré / Mate

Straw Serejo – Tribute to the historian of Mate

This bomb is a tribute to the historian Helio Serejo, who dedicated the first half of the 20th century to investigating the culture of mate, resulting in his work "Carai".

Ideal for enjoying tereré —a cold mate with leaves, typical of the Mato Grosso and Paraguay regions where Serejo carried out much of his studies—, this elegant pump with serrated edges is made of pure stainless steel by a small company in southern Brazil.

Serejo stated:

"Yerba mate, drunk as tereré, is refreshing and represents a bond between four friendly nations: Paraguay, the largest consumer, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil. It is affirmative without confrontation. This native beverage of the pampas emotionally signifies rest, an hour of meditation, friendship, fun, and camaraderie for work, joy, and the exchange of ideas leading to a carefree escape."

In his research, Serejo emphasized both the transcendental aspect of mate consumption and the conspiratorial attitude of the gauchos, who often needed to escape dangerous environments. These three elements—unity, transcendence, and conspiracy—are deeply linked to tereré and were meticulously documented by him.
